Thanksgiving Day

Happy Thanksgiving!

We're enjoying a stay with our friends, Jacki & Stan Johnson at their home in Three Rivers CA.  The weather is beautiful, the fellowship is enjoyable and we're having a great time!

We've been on the road for three weeks today as we head south to our winter escape at Sky Valley in Desert Hot Springs CA.    Island with a palm tree  We're anxious to get there and see our winter friends!  It's so nice to have friends in different parts of the country!  We feel like we have two homes now, one in WA and one in CA.  But with our home on wheels, we're "home" anywhere!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Thanksgiving Day wherever you may be.       Smile

In the NW

Back in the Pacific Northwest & waiting for our household goods to arrive.  That will happen on Wed. & we will finally move in to our condo.  Its good to be back near our daughters & some of our grandchildren.  Today we even get to babysit for a little while!  Thomas is not too thrilled about that at the moment, but he's getting over it!  One minute he was going with Mommy to pick up Johannah & Charly from preschool & then Grandma & Grandpa showed up & he got plucked out of the car!  Then to make matters worse, once back inside, he tumbled down the steps head first!  Grandma caught him before he hit bottom!  He was trying to put one of Charly's shoes on & saying "Go Bye!" when he lost his balance.  I guess he thought if he had shoes on he might be able to go!
We're still living in our RV as we wait to get settled in the condo.  We're parked at Tracy & Jim's & enjoying the opportunity to spend time with them & Alisha & Adam.

On the way to Washington

We left Sky Valley, Desert Hot Springs CA bright & early Sunday morning, April 1st.  We arrived in Three Rivers CA in mid afternoon where we parked our RV at Stan & Jacki Johnson's new (retirement) home, which is still under construction.  They met us there, with their granddaughter, Maya.  We had a tour of the new house, which is really pretty close to finished, and then we headed for their temporary get-away trailer in a little trailer park down the road from the house.  Their neighbors, Clancy & Gail, whom we've met on our previous visits, joined us for an afternoon out on the back deck where we enjoyed a little wine, and some great soup & salad which Jacki fixed for us.  What a nice, relaxing location alongside the river.  We watched the moon come up over the mountain across the river before we retreated back to our motor home.  The next morning we headed out a little after 8 a.m.  It was a beautiful morning & we enjoyed some stunning scenery as we made our way from Three Rivers back to Visalia & Highway 99 beyond that.  We arrived at Chris & Kellie's in Mountain View (Moffett Field) around 1:30p.m.  Ive just added three albums:  Leaving Sky Valley, Three Rivers and Justin's baseball game which we went to tonight.  Justin pitched for several innings & then played third base for the remainder of the game.  He had a couple of good hits & pitched  a great game, even though his team lost!

Sunday

Yesterday we took a ride up to Idyllwild, a little touristy town up in the mountains above Palm Springs at about 5000 ft. altitude.  There are lots of little interesting shops up there.  It was a little cooler than down here on the desert floor, but still warm enough to have lunch at a very nice restaurant that had outdoor tables.  While we were sitting there enjoying the sun we noticed there was some old dirty snow on the ground alongside the road there!  After lunch we browsed around town for a little while.  Then on our way back down, we stopped to see an old high school friend, Dan Marlin.  He is building a Tuscan style home up there at about 4000 ft with a beautiful view of the plateau below.  We enjoyed the tour he & his son gave us through the almost finished home.  It is a pretty impressive home with "to die for" views from just about every room!  My camaera batteries decided to die, so no pictures.  Actually my camera is a little dramatic.  Its not content to tell me the batteries are dead by flashing or something.  It sends me a message that says "Warning!  Batteries are EXHAUSTED!"  Anyway, no pictures of the Italian villa!!

Thursday

Wow!!  It's 85 degrees & not quite noon yet!  I heard we're supposed to have 90-95 degree weather this month!  That's hotter than when we were here last March.  We may have to run the air conditioner.  We're grateful for the nice breeze.

We've had a busy first part of the week!  Yesterday we had lunch with some friends from OK who are staying about  20 miles away in their RV.    We went to a Mexican place they knew of, but Earl was not happy!  The waitress got two of our four orders wrong & she wasn't too interested in talking about it.  Kind of, Oh, Well!  Needless to say, she didn't get too much of a tip from the guys!  (It was their orders she got wrong!)  Earl complained about it all day!

Candy got in trouble this morning!!  Earl took the comforter off our bed before we went to bed last night because it was too hot to use it.  Candy likes to sleep on it (and on my feet!)  To express her anger at him for taking it off, she left him a present during the night, on the carpet on his side of the bed!!  He waited until I woke up this morning to stick her nose in it & spank her.  She sure can be ornery.  It was quite deliberate.  She has done it a few times before when she was mad at him about something.
